Peace Fleece Sweater Retrospective & Closing Celebration

  • One Lupine Fiber Arts

The Peace Fleece Sweater Retrospective will run through the first week of December. Among the beautiful sweaters, there are also photographs generously donated by the Hagertys, chronicling their fiber journey. They will be joining us for the closing of the show to tell us their story.

The Peace Fleece offices are in a barn on a sheep and horse farm in the small, rural town of Porter in the foothills of southwestern Maine. Peter Hagerty and his wife Marty Tracy started buying wool from the Soviet Union back in 1985 in hopes that through trade they could help diffuse the threat of nuclear war. Since then Peter has journeyed through eastern Europe, central Asia and the Middle East in search of farmers and shepherds who are willing to set aside historic enmities in exchange for opportunities leading to mutual understanding and economic interdependence.

Joy Moody Trunk Show

Joy Moody has many talents, and we are lucky enough to be able to share her jewelry design.  She creates her pendants, earrings, and pins with hand-selected rare gems and stones wrapped in 24-karat gold-fill.  Her work is intended to last for generations.  Come by on Valentine's Day to meet Joy and learn more about her and her collection.  Needless to say, precious things in little boxes make great presents--even if they're for yourself!
